Philosophy
The Theatre School Playhouse is not your typical theatre school. We pride ourselves in providing the most innovative and supportive theatre arts training available in a friendly, wholesome, clean environment. We recognize each of our students as a unique individual and personalize our teaching to each participant. We assist each student in recognizing their strengths and encouraging them to improve in even their weak areas. We believe in instilling practical life skills such as courage, courtesy, patience, respect, self-control and integrity. Our training is unique because of our attention to detail and the unique personalized attention that we give to all of our students.
Statement of Purpose
One of the most rewarding activities that your child can be involved in is theatre! The Theatre School Playhouse program will greatly enhance your child's self-confidence and concentration for a better head start in life. This not only helps them improve their grades in school, but also prepares them to excel in all of life's challenges. Our students also develop a more positive attitude that helps them say "NO" to unhealthy peer pressures.
By enrolling your child in our program, you will increase their opportunity for social interaction with their peers in a safe, fun-filled learning atmosphere. We inspire goal setting in our students, helping them learn and strive for success.
This educational program is taught through enjoyable activities and challenging exercises. It is an excellent counter-part to formal education. The skills taught in our classroom are invaluable in helping young people achieve their future goals. Best of all, they will have great FUN doing it!
Theatre depends on a strong ensemble for its success. Dependent group success provides individuals with an opportunity to learn teamwork and camaraderie. Appropriate social behavior is a focus within each group. The opportunity to perform will provide a positive integration of each child into society. Some children struggle with the acceptance or rejection of the general population toward them; however, this program provides a road to the larger society in which they are seen as skilled, accomplished and part of a successful group.
Theatre arts will promote growth in every area of a child’s life.
Specialized Services
Special Needs
The philosophy of our special needs program is to utilize theatre training to enhance the lives of families with special needs children. We have experienced the joys and pains of living with special needs individuals in our own personal lives. Due to our personal experiences, we have learned a great deal about the need for the availability of unique teaching programs for children with special needs. Over the years we have educated ourselves through books, doctors, conferences, teachers, and parenting classes, combining it all together with our theatre training program. We have developed a unique approach to theatre for children with special needs. We realize the difficulty of expressing emotions and it is this that we wish to instill in our special needs students. We look at each child individually and then creatively design a method that works best for this child to learn on the stage. We currently work with many families that have children with special needs. Many of these families tell us that theatre arts has played a significant role in helping their child with better attention skills, coordination, language, self esteem, memorization, focus, independence and so much more.
